Thomases progression video. He ONLY agreed to do it this morning if I NEVER EVER bother him on a Saturday morning again, which I fully agreed. The first two pieces are Minuets he was assigned by his new teacher and they did a mini concert for me Thursday and it was gggrrreeeaaattt! Lynn said this is the first time she has ever had a student learn 2 pieces within 2 weeks, so she sent him on to more intense pieces for next week. He is so excited. The last piece is one of the songs he is going to do for his BSYO concert in April.

@JimandThomas -

I think you are doing GREAT!
I noticed you are starting to get some really good expression with your phrasing!
You have really improved your intonation and vibrato, too!
Still playing any fiddle tunes?

Excellent by Thomas, but the clicking noise (keyboard?) was a little distracting. I wish I could play as well as Thomas! He is doing extremely well.

Sounds GREAT!

Start a 2022 St. Patrick's Day Party with your "Swallowtail Jig" video - post in the Party Room & we'll join in with our videos in the Party thread and Thomas will get a "Party Badge"

If Thomas finds Swallowtail troublesome, Katy Adelson has a great video tutorial that might be helpful - she goes step by step.

That's AMAZING!!!  I only hope I can do as well in my own Bach learning and playing.

I see he's also worked on his bowing to keep the bow under control and off the fingerboard.  Well done on that too!

ElCBK..What a great idea!!!! We will do it this Sunday so it gives others time to join in by St. Patrick's Day. And we will check out Katy's tutorial as well.

RDP...thank you very much. He just read your comment and it made him smile.

Definitely improving. Nice. Thanks for the updates Thomas 😁
Your dad is putting you on the spot with those questions about the composer. You need to prepare yourself for that kind of question in the future.
I was terrible at looking to see who the composers were before learning new music at your age. 🤣 Then again, not sure how old you are either. I started playing when I was 12.

Too funny  @Fiddlerman   . But you are right on all counts. I think the reason I ask him questions at the beginning is because he has a tendency to NOT look at either the composer, time signature or even key signature , especially. He is 10 and he usually waits until he HAS to know what is flat or sharp while he is playing. Then he stops and goes to look if(for example)he need to make the F either sharp or flat. He is wicked bad at looking first.

@JimandThomas -

I had a quiz when I was in elementary school.

It listed many questions I was to answer.

The LAST question on the 2nd page read... "Disregard all previous questions."

Cured me from rushing into anything after that, without looking it completely over, first. 🤭

ROFL.

When we advertise positions at Fiddlershop we often write at the end to write Fiddlershop Rocks!!! or something similar on their application.

Saves us a lot of time if we're looking for someone who needs to pay attention to details. 90% of the people don't include this in their application.
