I liked the second violin the best.  But either sound good.

I loled the second one better, STV-650. To me it sounds fuller, but yet sweeter. Stringer. The high notes are sweet, but not weak.

It also looks like Andy had an easier time with the second one, not sure if that was because, maybe he liked that one better?

Well. He has had STV for a while.

But, this year, he started middle school and he needs to carry the violin to school every day. Wifey asked me to acquire cheaper but decent violin for Ronald for that purpose.

That's right that STV still shows its value. But, for the cost, Ronald likes Bucharest (it is louder in a way). It has flatter arch but wider for some reason. (Perhaps that's how Strad looks like).

STV has very pronounced arch on both plats and perhaps that's making this fuller notes. That's Kreisler Del Gesu copy.

Sound is very personal, and every violin has a life of it's own - you might be surprised by something unexpected!

Try as many as possible (within budget).  You & Ronald will know what is best when he plays it.

If Ronald is happy, he will want to learn & play more! 🤗

Yes. We are hoping that Knilling will sound better overtime. We "rescued" it from someone's garage :). The case was super "musty" and everything. After removing the stickers the previous kid put, it finally looks good. Hopefully, after playing for a while, it might "open" up better.

I agree with Abitrusty, the second violin is far superior in tone, not only that he looked more at ease playing it.

Cant beat a sunny day
