After bouncing the proposition off @UtahRoadbase, @Fiddlestix, @KindaScratchy and several others, I've determined to call a waltz party on this here thread, effective immediately.

So please make a recording---audio or video---of you playing a favorite waltz, and post it here.

It's not a contest, and those of all skill levels are welcome.

Most players have a waltz up their sleeves.  If you don't, now is a good time to learn one.  I am not much of an expert on waltzes, so I won't be able to explain precisely what one is.  Wikipedia and online descriptions and videos ought to be of some help for beginners.  Viennese Waltz is a faster form of waltz, and that is welcome too.  If you are not sure what to play, look for something in 3/4 or 6/8 time that sounds as if somebody could dance to it, and ask around.

Glad to have you if you can join in!

Please post more than one waltz if you are so inclined!

Grand idea, @RosinedUp! I've been polishing one particular waltz up since we chatted about it the other night. Might even be ready to record this weekend.
If the party goes on for a while I might have another I can do later.
Looking forward to another fun party!!

Question - is it possible to put up their own composision or does it have to be a known tune?

Here's my fiddle tune, Black Velvet Waltz, played on the new Fiddlerman Soloist violin and using the new Zoom Q3 recorder. I chose this tune to show off the Soloist, and the tune goes from low G to high A--almost all the first position range. (And trying out my vibrato, having worked on it for six months now.)

HatefulPain--I don't see any reason why you can't submit your own composition as long as it's a waltz!

Wow, of course!  For my part, that would be most welcome.

Also I should have said in the OP, that I would welcome other instruments too.

I guess people would like to see just about anything that is a member playing a waltz!

@Steve:  Nice Playing!  Thanks for breaking the ice!

Very nice, Steve! I'm impressed by your vibrato. Did I detect vibrato on a double stop?

Thanks everyone for their nice comments. Diane, yes, I was trying to get vibrato on both notes of the double stop at the end.

Hope you all are preparing your own waltz to present! (Except FM, if he wanted to do a waltz he wouldn't need to prepare.) laugh

@Steve;, How sweet it is.  Very nicely performed.  clap

I like the sound of your new "violin", not fiddle, lol.
