It's been about a week into this violin thing now. Here's a video update. Arrangement by ear of Amazing Grace. Still can't play it cleanly, but I know now that no one here is gonna make fun of me so I'm sharing it anyway. Thanks for everything you guys do. This community is awesome inspiration.

Wow great job.  It's amazing you have only been playing a week and learned this by ear.  You're a prodigy lol!  You might want to drop your bow elbow a bit and use your wrist more.  It will help you in the long run.  thumbs-up

Opportunity is often missed because it wears suspenders and looks like hard work.

Thanks guys! I will work on the elbow. Bowing is such a weird and unnatural thing for me so far, having played guitar a bit in The past.

Believe it or not, I also had a maverick elbow(arm) such that I would go to lessons with my arm held in place with bungee cords.  The teacher liked that and years later I still remember to keep the elbow where it belongs.

I believe one of the problems is that if bow control (including rosin) is not working, there is a tendency to "rise above" the problem and use arm weight to help out.
