Fiddlerman said something in a post after that Andy Griffith clip that reminded me of something. He said something like "I don't like seeing classical players perform country with too much vibrato and perfection."

That just reminded me of something I'd seen on youtube once. Here is a cover of Dave Matthew's Ants Marching performed by an excellent violinist reading sheet music. I don't know, maybe it's just me, but this just made me laugh. the syncopation, the vibrato, the perfection. The arched eyebrow classical violinist face. (**the guy playing the guitar posted the sheet music if anyone is interested in learning to play it)

To be fair, I can't really imagine Boyd in a string quartet. I don't even know if he reads music.

She is awesome! She's perfect. That's what makes it so wrong. LOL. She's supposed to be jamming. It's like running a marathon in high heels or something.

I feel what you are saying Jauniba. Too much intense vibrato for this kind of music in my opinion. It all boils down to taste in the end anyway. She does play nicely.

Yes, I think she plays well, hard for me to criticize for being to proper. But see what you mean. I like it dirty and and I also like it clean.

Still having a hard time getting around Dave Matthews bus and bridge incident!cheers

I had to google the bus and bridge incident. Funny enough, I once got a ride home from them (they used to play at my university a lot...back before they became wildly popular).

I have to say that sounded great! I am not a big Dave Mathews fan at all but wow adding that violin like that to the song worked for me.

hard for me to decide on this one....

its difficult to see if she really feels the music or is just playing notes 'as they should be'.

Close your eyes, listen - and you'll see! wink You can't play like that if don't feel.
