pink-violin-girlHas anyone heard of dubstep on the violin? I was wondering if there is such a thing, and there is.  There are some interesting videos on youtube with various depstep music being played as they attempt to play. It's really interesting and I'm going to try it.  If I do succeed I will be happy to upload a video on this forum.

Are you refering to double stops, where you play two notes ayt once? If so check out Red Wing /forum/playing-the-violin/international-group-fiddlerman-red-wing-youtube-project/page-4/#p12575

He plays the violin pretty freaking well. I don't like his choice of dubstep though sleep

I like the concept though thumbs-up

Thank you,  I enjoyed that very much.

@Sam around here the early bird may catch the worm but never gets to eat it.  The others come and steal it from the first.  At least that's how it works with chickens and it's the funniest thing to watch.

The violin player seems very accomplished for his age.

Like your link to PLJ.  Nice sound and style.  Is he also composer for his music?

I would assume so ?

When you said dubstep I was thinking more of the techno effects and transformer-robotic sounding noises. This is the first time I've seen violin dubstep but it doesnt sound very dubstep-ish to me?

I'm surprised nobody has mentioned Lindsey Stirling. She moonwalks and high kicks while playing the violin. And it's dubstep!

I can't read music, but I understand it perfectly.

She holds her bow so high, I sincerely doubt she can play and dance like that lol. Still pretty cool to watch smile

I don't doubt that she can play and dance like that, but I think in this particular video, the music was dubbed into video scenes. There are some amazingly talented people in this world.

I still don't get the "dubstep", music theory though.  Is it a type like "celtic" music ?

dunno  I don't understand celtic either.

It's a style of electro dance.

Not only have we talked about here on the forum but I did an interview with her once. She can play and dance though on this particular video she is doing playback.
She has a great thing going. I love her uniqueness.

However Lindsey does it, she's amazing and entertaining.  She can even smile and make it look almost effortless.smile

Here's Dub Step violin with Ashanti Floyd, aka, The Mad Violinist. He plays with the Symphony Crack Orchestra in Atlanta - very Dub.
