@iBud I didn't mean to imply you wrote too hard of a cello part, just that it wasn't a fingering pattern that came as easily as some other pieces. I probably will be able to learn it in time since it really is a lot of repetition. Once I get the basic pattern down I'll be ok.

Aloha @Just4Fun.

I don't even have a cello to tryout the part, so I don't know if it's actually hard to finger or not.  The pattern is pretty much the same throughout, melodically, but I don't know what that means, fingerboard-wise.  Let me know of any trouble areas you have and I'll see what can be done.  I didn't make the cello part different than a simple bass line - there should be latitude for change there.

Ibud, very nice version and I think simple enough I may give it a go.  Thank you for doing this, the harmony and work behind it is a very interesting side to this.

Thanks for this @iBud! Beautifyl ^_^

All year I've been telling myself I'd give the Christmas project a go... It's a little more challenging than I'd hoped for, but maybe this is a good thing!! I've always loved this song, so we'll see how I go! Maybe what I come up with won't be usable, but I'll at least have fun trying!santa3

Aloha @RedViolin,

Don't worry about your submission being unusable - I learned last year that no matter how bad it sounds, everyone else will cover you up!  Actually that was my first comment - to thank everyone else for drowning me out cool

Thanks for all your work iBud. I knew you were the right guy for the job. I'll go through your PDF soon. I have SUPER slow satellite internet on the Atlantic and lot's of noise where I'm at right now. I don't think I'll have many changes except for maybe wanting the octaves to stay closer to each other first time around, then rewriting it instead of repeating and going up an octave the second time. Maybe just on some parts.

Also, if you would please keep it to 4 parts considering we may only have a few viola's and cellos, make them all violin parts and we'll transpose for viola and cello as well.

The bottom two moving parts , as nice as they are, might make the mix sound messy.

Thanks again. :)

Thank you for the work on this IBud.

It sounds like a lovely project.  It might be a busy time for me  so I am not sure if I can commit to a new project.

Eager for everyone's lovely playing and group project.

Good luck everyone.

I just had a better look at the part and yes, iBud, you are on the right track. I won't get too involved. I prefer easy parts to hard this time since we'll be limited on time. Four would feel the best for me. One melody and 3 notes making up the chord as you did.
What do you say?

Aloha @Fiddlerman,

We're about to be wheels up on our way to Tampa, but I'll take another look at it once we get to the hotel.  We don't need the Viola and Cello parts, and I'm reasonably sure that I can button up the three violin parts fairly quickly.  I won't be in Tampa until tomorrow afternoon, but I should have something by tomorrow night.

It's going to be something being on the East Coast.  I won't miss Thursday Night Football (it comes on at 3:30PM out here in Hawaii), but I'll have to stay up way late to finish the game.  Between the time my wife and I get to the hotel and the time the game starts, I should be able to get quite a bit done, unless she wants to go shopping, that is facepalm

I use NFL now for my replays and updates. :)
You wouldn't happen to have Finale would you?

Aloha @Fiddlerman,

We have DirecTV, and NFL Sunday Ticket.  There's no other way to see my Bucs on TV in Honolulu, unfortunately.  We're going to have my mother-in-law record the game on the 22nd, so I'll be able to watch it when I finally get back home.

I use MuseScore, as the cost is free.  I've seen Finale, but have never tried it.  I really like MuseScore, but as is likely the case with other notation apps, you have to learn to do things the "MuseScore" way.

I can save my files as musicxml (.xml).  If Finale can import that kind of file, I can export it/them to you as such.

Let me know if you need any help from this point forward iBud.

I can try to open your file in Finale and transpose everything and make individual parts if you have any trouble.

Will you be doing a separate click track or should we be using the embedded mp3 file?

Aloha everyone,

Let me apologize for not getting back to y'all sooner.  I'm getting older and jet lag is really starting to affect me.  I'm now five hours "into the future" with respect to Honolulu time.

I took @Fiddlerman's suggestion and only included the four violin parts.  I'm including each individual part as well as the .mp3 file.  As for a click track, let me see what I can do.  I should have something within the next couple of days.  @Fiddlerman, let me know what you think.  I will take any and all advice, suggestions, constructive criticism, etc... you can provide.

I made one small change in the Violin 1 part. I moved measures 10-13 up one octave, so that the melody could be better heard.  The other parts also move up, so it makes sense.  The highest note is the B on the E string, so it's all still in 1st position.  Let me know what y'all think.

Aloha @Fiddlerman,

I can't send .xml files on this forum, so I've attached the .mscz file.  I could zag you the .xml files, but you also don't allow .zip files.  Let me know if you can open this file with Finale.

EDIT: I guess we can't send .mscz files.  Zag me an email at bud.jones@icloud.com and I'll respond with the files.

@iBud - there is something "weird" about the .mscz files that's never been sorted on the forum - apparently admins can see them, no-one else - so both Pierre and Diane see the attachment - but we normal mortals cannot which still remains a bit of a nuisance !!!  LOL

I seriously recommend not copying my mistakes. D'oh - guntohead.JPG
