100_0576.JPGImage EnlargerHi Pierre, I found this music sheet called "The castle reel" by the Dick Gossip. It's a nice tune. I was wondering if you could help me with it. Here I post the music sheet for it.

Thanks a lot,

Juan aka JuanFiddler.

[Image Can Not Be Found]first beat of each measure gets the down bow. regular saw strokes for the bowings, emphasis on the first and second beats, count the quarters as eights and the eights as sixteenths. eights are counted 1 and 2 and... and sixteenths are 1 e and a, 2 e and a.

the pickup measure and first measure are 1 e for the quarter, and a for the eith notes then the last four eithnotes are 2 e and a. repeat. so the 1 e is a down bow, and is an up, a is a down, 2 is up, e is down, and is up and a is down, the next measure is an up bow start. So in order to maintain a down beat driven sound you will have to add a corrective slur to those measures. 2 consecutive notes on the same string is a good place to add one. Most of the measures work out to down bow on the first beat however.

Thanks Robert.

That is one way to do it. There are many acceptable ways. Here is another way you can do it.

Roberts suggestion to play the slur on the second beat is fine too.

I gave you two options on the second part as well. The first two measures of lines 3 and 4 are different for you to have an option. Just choose the one that sounds best musically or plays the best for you.
