Aloha everyone,

It seems like it's been years since I last posted here.  I apologize for my absence, although I'm not sure anyone noticedcool

I don't quite know what I wanted with this tune, but I was playing some Bach on my keyboard and decided to just try out some chord progressions.  I came up with the "organ" part (really it could be either piano or organ, but I was using an organ voice on my Korg and decided that I like that better), then began wondering how I could incorporate the violin parts.  I think it still needs a bit of work, but let me know what y'all think of it thus far.

The image I was trying to create is an elderly person thinking back on their life, realizing that their time is almost gone, remembering both their regrets and their accomplishments.  Let me know if y'all get the same sort of imagery when y'all listen to it, please.

I've uploaded the complete score and accompanying .pdf.  If anyone would like the individual parts, let me know and I'll upload those.  I also have the audio files with just organ with violin 1 and organ with violin 2, if y'all would like to practice either part individually.

Enjoy!

Welcome back @iBud ! Nice job. This is really intriguing. I'll try playing your score tomorrow on a few different instruments (too tired tonight).

Your post got me thinking about a different type of group project we could try.

Forum members could record themselves playing your score with their own interpretation of your theme/concept, playing it in a way that they feel conveys the imagery that you described. It would be interesting to hear how different people communicate the same imagery musically.

Or, forum members who like to compose music could create their own compositions designed to convey the same theme or imagery.

Just a thought.

Aloha @KindaScratchy,

I'm glad that you find it intriguing thus far - that's a good word for it, after I took another listen to it.  The violin 2 part is a bit boring, but at least it's not too technically difficult - just my speedfacepalm

Have you had a chance to try the violin 1 part?  I would be interested in hearing someone else's opinion.  Originally, I wrote in in A minor, but decided that D minor would be better suited for the violin, so I used my music notation app, MuseScore, to transpose it.

Thanks again for your response.

aLOOOOHa!!!

Nice work and most certainly nice to see you.

I find the piece moving...I kinda felt sad in places, but I totally listened with a view to "reflecting"... It flows really nice and you did a very good job as per your normal good stuff.

How goes playing?  Nice that you are producing some stuff.  As always, thanks for sharing and including the score. YOU ROCK!!!!!!!!

Toni... welcome back.

Sorry, this kind of fell off my radar screen. (Busy time of year.) Now that you've revived it, I'll give it a go sometime this week.
