Are you using the app every time you practice?

I cant say everytime but more than not.   depends on what im doing or trying to accomplish.  Really like playing along to videos and mp3s of a favorite track but i think i was getting kind of an auto pilot thing going.  putting on something that clicks or beats twice a measure has helped me start listening better outside of myself..and is helping with the group thing.  especially with tunes i know but havent played in a group.  its weird.. cant explain..

anyway..Whatevwr works... do that.

I use my metronome occasionally to check-in with my inner sense of timing.

Also, when I'm trying to gradually speed up something--doing it incrementally to maintain steadiness.

Also (also), when I'm working on something that I tend to rush on--like right now.  I've got a piece I'm going to perform w/others, and I have a couple sections in it that I tend to rush, so I practice that section (as well as the whole piece) with the metronome to make sure I practice the tempo I'm going to play it at & that I'm steady.

If it hasn't been mentioned, something I'd recommend is to try to hear your accompanist in your head.

They are nudging £200 now. They are around, but not as common as they were.

I bought one from Amazon four years ago, but it arrived broken and they wanted more money for a replacement, so I gave up.

Casey Driessen used a very unique old mechanical metronome in his Fiddle Hell Workshops this last April - called a Billoti Trinome.  It does polyrhythms!

What in the World is a Trinome?

...last one I saw for sale anywhere was almost $500. 😞

Cool!

I bet playing with that has helped you!  Sometimes spending a little more is worth it though.  I wouldnt have minded in the 100 to 200 range if i couldve found a witner but for 49.00 this one worked i guess.

Whats your favorite part about playing with your Trinome?

Laughing So Hard Smiley

I would LOVE to have one (kept an eye out since April), but... no, not paying $500 for one!

Haven't installed the Soundbrenner app, but have the 'Pulse' - just haven't needed it for what I've been practicing so far... added to my 'another thing I'd like to get started' list. 🙄

How to practice polyrhythms with the Soundbrenner metronome.

@ABitRusty It is a nicer sound, isn't it?  laugh

I think I got my Wittner from Etsy.com; I know I went looking there.

Anyway, I'm guessing the Tempi works just as well as the Wittnersmile With its not digital, electronic sound  laugh

oh yeah! Absolutely...   I still like my app and drum software...yadda yadda... but to just sit down and start it is nice.  But i like playing to them so that probably helps. 🙂

I agree that playing with drum software, tracks, or a live drummer makes it a lot more fun and yes, you sound better.
I'll try to make a real nice click track this year for our Xmas project.

@fiddlerman ive never had an issue with your click and play along tracks.  Honestly its great like you do it as far as i am concerned.   Youve included the click and also play along...

@Fiddlerman   I like the click track as is. If you change it to drums, or whatever, maybe better players who are more keen to keeping tempo would benefit, but I am positive, others, like me will have issues. It is just fine the way it is. I need to hear that click. Thank you for taking this under consideration. Thinking about changing it is a big concern now, 🥴.

I debated getting one ( metronome ) with a bell.   Thought it would take away from the click clock.. which to me is kinda therapeutic.. but after trying it im seeing it as a plus.   i can st it for 2 3 or 4. so can use it for standard time signatures.. being able to switch between 2 and 4 is fun.

Bells are great.

The bell can be turned off.
