And I stank! Really stank.

Must have lost my place doing Pirate 5, toward the end luckily. I thought my G string had gone out of tune. It must have been the humidity, Fred!

Canon was ok until I got past my problem part, did it fine but then I guess I mentally relaxed a bit and lost my notes.

Air in the G string!
I never accounted for sweaty hands sliding up the fingerboard, higher and higher with every note !!!!
And then to go between 1st and 3rd position? Road kill, pure road kill!

But I tell you what, I'm chuffed that I have done it, and now know just how much work there is ahead!
A few glasses of wine tonight, then back on it tomorrow.
No lessons for 2 weeks so I have the chance to go back to some basics!done

LOL Terry, that reminds me of an incident that happened at the University with a good friend of mine.

He accidentally played on a rest and the conductor stopped the orchestra and said to him in front of everyone.

That was out of tune, out of time, bad sound, too loud, too close to the bridge, but besides that, it was perfect....

Needless to say, my friend turned red and was not very happy after that.

I would have to crawl out of there and hide, how embarassing.

I think I would have played some more for him since he liked it so much.

Terry, you can't be so hard on yourself buddy!  I'm sure you did better than you're describing,,,,, and if you didn't,,, then f@#k 'em if they can't take a joke....

I can't yet imagine what it will be like to play in front of a group of strangers,,, on a stage,,,,,,  I think I'm too young still to do that, haaaaaaa.

You're fortunate to have had that experience.

One thing I've learned along the way, you will always think that you played much worse than you actually did! cheers

We are always our harshest critics.  Some will give in to their own criticism and give up.  Other's will use it to learn and improve.  I know you're the latter, so have a laugh about it and toast to your first performance!  It's over and you survived!

Hey, at least you got up there and played!  Many wouldn't do that!  I feel sorry from them because they don't know what their missing!  It's such a great experience!  Pretty soon, you'll crave performing!!  I'm glad you're including us on your journey!!

Cheers!

I'm with you Kevin... my thoughts exactly... how unprofessional...party

I might've even walked up there and handed him the damn violin and said something smart as well.moony-2173

Thanks Bro, I knew I could rely on you for putting things in perspective.
Fortunately they could take a joke. roflol
There was no stage as such, just a room with a piano (and a "refreshments" hatch!!)

I'll post my video later if only to prove to any other beginner who is nervous about performing to strangers that if it goes wrong, you still live afterwards, and it's just another footstep on the big scary street of life

In  context, not bad at all.

Now you face a new challenge ...... your NEXT performance which everyone will expect to be a piece of cake because you are now "experienced".

That wasn't bad at all.  One small mess up and no one knew it but you. Blame it on the brass section.

Great job Terry.
