Just thought I would share my progress so far.. After watching this back, I see that I am better with my bowing and my notes aren't quite as scratchy as they used to be in the beginning. :) I still miss a few notes on accuracy but I'm getting there. :)

I thought it was nice and clean, and generally pretty-good intonation !

Glad you feel you are making progress - that's what keeps us motivated - yeah - well done drummer

I seriously recommend not copying my mistakes. D'oh - guntohead.JPG

Please make your own, different mistakes, and help us all learn :-)

Very well done! I will admit it's better then me :D ahahah beautiful and very good intonation and finger placement from what I can tell...also lovely violin! :D   I'd love to hear her with out the mute, I bet she sounds even more beautifully with her full sound. Can't wait to see more and thanks for the motivation to keep at it on some of my fiddle tunes!!

I just posted the following video for a friend of mine a couple days ago.. It was played without the mute.. My biggest issue now is that I'm in a place where I can now play without a mute, yet I find myself nervous to take it off because it's so much louder!! LOL I guess I don't want others (and myself) to hear the mistakes quite that loud!! Aside from that though, the violin sounds so pretty without the mute.. I've been practicing a little each day without the mute on and gradually doing more so that I'll be used to it again.

Very nice. However, I would prefer that you upload it to youtube and paste the link in your post. The embedding works way better for most here on the forum and especially for us Mac users. :)

Thanks for the post.

I agree.. I didn't do it right this time around and forget to edit/correct it... I'm sorry about that... I did it the right way the other couple of times I had shared a video.. Not sure why I did it this way this time.. :(

I have another updated progress video.. I've been working in the Suzuki Method book 1 and it has helped me out quite a lot... Just wanted to share.. Plus, I also created a separate YouTube channel just to contain all of my progress videos so that I can easily keep track of how I do over time. :)

Bravo! Good job, @StaceyC  I had a good chuckle when you said "can't play this part yet" and other comments. Sounds like things I say out loud when I am practicing. Good idea to set up that YouTube site. Good place to keep all your videos together and share them. I did the same thing, although I don't have real videos just yet...audios set to pictures. Once I can figure out this new recorder and get up the nerve, I will do videos of myself playing.

I have a question about the Suzuki Method. Why with so many tunes do they repeat each note a few times? I've seen this in several videos. I imagine it is a reinforcement technique, but that is my guess.

Once again, good job, and thanks for sharing.

I wish I had an answer to that. All I can say from what I've learned so far is that it prepares you for future songs that require different techniques. I'm sure Fiddlerman could explain it a lot better than me..  LOL As for my comments, I do attempt the parts that I say I can't do yet but I just left them out of that particular video.  :) I've definitely made progress and while making the videos has me WAY out of my comfort zone, I'm done hiding and not participating in things all because I'm scared to be on camera. Thank you for your nice comments!!! I'd love visit your YouTube site.. :)

@StaceyC Very nice :) Intonation, string crossings very  good. Enjoyed listening to you play. Maybe a little more bow sometimes, but sounding great.

StaceyC,

Your sounding good, hard to tell with the angle of the video, but from what we can see in the video your bow arm wrist seems a bit stiff, maybe not. Might have a look and see what you think.

Thank for posting,

Mark

Really nice sound, Stacey... and enviable intonation! And what a great idea to review the whole book!
