I'm not one to be interested in having a lengthy, unknown (to me), score of notation sat done in front of me (even if just 1 movement) - really feelin' for young students at this point.
An intro by a teacher could be engaging (depending on the teacher), but smart use of animated video might make a HUGE difference in music learning motivation. Even without a teacher, also works on old fogies like me.
'The Planets', by Holst, is obviously famous (to begin with)... but still, what a great example, especially relevant with current cosmic events!
I think integrating music with other areas of interest is a way to foster a stronger bond & might help increase motivation/interest in learning to play music.
Haven't been able to see the grandkids since Xmas because of cold/flu stuff going around, but I sent the video links over to have them watch together. They are all very interested in music (and the solar system), but I haven't been able to convince them that the fiddle is really the best instrument to learn (yet). 😞
The grandkids already know a little bit about Holst's 'The Planets' - gave them this interactive book (with audio) last year, or year before 🥴 (hard to keep track with 7 grandkids).
