Barry, I told you I'd do this, but I also warned it may take some time ...

... And obviously I need a new camera too (bottom of my list at the moment) ...
If you think you can, or you think you can't, you're probably right.

Oops ... I thought that was only if you have the link.

After watching this again, I'm not sure I was actually ready to record ...

Thanks guys ... yes that was fun!
This is my Cecilio silent violin. At this time of year the weather is not suitable for acoustic instruments. We had a week of rain, then the dry season arrived. When the dry season gets here it's not a gradual thing, humidity drops dramatically in a few hours. Then I have no end of trouble tuning. My violin wasn't just untuneable, it has a funny echoing, whispery noise, and I'm worried the sound post may have moved. I'm about 800km from a luthier, so I've got my fingers crossed that when the weather changes things will return to normal. The cello takes a fair bit of tuning each day, and each 20 mins or so while playing.
The only problem I have with the Cecilio is the poor fit of the output cables. Whether I use headphones or an amp, the connection is sloppy and the sound breaks up constantly. But it stays in tune through this weather, so go figure ...

@Robyn.fnq have you tried a different rosin for the dry season? If you are using a different rosin on the cello, how about testing the cello bow on the violin? Also I would try asking other players whether they change rosins or anything else for the winter. I doubt that every acoustic violin down under is idle for the winter.
BTW, I enjoyed your Can Can.

Thanks mate!
Yes, I use a cello rosin in dry weather, and a very dark bass rosin on the cello bow. The pegs slip, so I'm thinking it's dry weather shrinkage. For 10 months of the year the humidity here is above 80%, so when it drops it's very uncomfortable.
Barry, I have bowls of water in the cupboards (hubby says I've left them out for the cat ... we don't have a cat!), and they evaporate quickly. I have an electric dehumidifier in the piano, but in this tropical climate it's unheard of to use an electric humidifier.
