I was happy to finally get past step 1 > registering, Not much to look at over there. I poked around but not much of anything to check out except pull down tabs with options that go nowhere. I was gonna put a vid together but it seems from what all are saying that there is no way to see if it got there, etc. Deadline is Saturday. Hmm~~~~~~~~~ that makes for a tight window. But they have the famous >

I'm going to record/upload a video this evening but was wondering, would it be against the rules if I have some music playing the background? Since I started playing the violin, I have been trying and trying to play a song by Taylor Davis and so when I practice, I usually try to play along with her. I just wanted to make sure that would be approved before I uploaded it. If not, I'll figure something else out to do.

Thanks for the update--I was wondering who "Danny Holstein" was as a probable relationship to Pierre. I registered as a "voter" since my aggregate time on violin is over a year. Hopefully lots of folks with less than a year playing will sign up as participants!
Hi Steve I hope you are well. I added a my video using with the

You could always just play it with one earphone in if you're worried about it.

The "rules" are pretty lax. Videos with anything inappropriate will be removed, what you describe, with accompaniment, sounds perfectly reasonable.BTW: The object is to get votes, so if the voters believe someone is cheating, or should be competing in another category, they can vote against that entrant.
Thanks wookieman, couldn't have said it better myself. Okay, it's a little complicated, but I don't think it's any more complicated then uploading to Youtube. And Youtube doesn't enter videos into competitions. I'm open to specific suggestions ("your web site is poop", wouldn't be helpful).
BTW: There are 3 entries already, so there will be a competition. And whoever competes or votes in the competition will have participated in the very first BattleToTheTop competition ever, and I will be forever grateful to all of you.

Well, I just uploaded mine but I chose to not have any music in the background. This is the first time I've actually ever recorded myself playing so it was pretty strange. Still, it's kind of nice to see where I've come in the last 9 months even if it sometimes doesn't feel like I'm improving as fast as I'd like.

Would it be too late to upload a better version of my submission video later this evening? I had tons of problems last night and so the one I submitted was very low rez and now I should be able get a decent copy available.

To those eager to vote:
The competition is bracket competition, so once the competition has started, you'll be able to view and vote between pairs of competitors. It will be randomly served to the voter.
Before the competition starts, all the entries will be available only to Pierre, he'll be able to remove inappropriate (or misplaced) content.
Once the competition is complete, you'll be able to see everything, from highest finisher on down.

Well, I thought I was signed up to vote on the competition, but I get no where clicking on all the tabs. I've tried at least 15 time's to find any entries, to no avail. Maybe it doesn't work with Window's XP, I dunno.

Just what does, "inappropiate" mean ? Does that mean bad playing ?

Voting won't be available until Pierre makes it available. There are no other competitions, this will be the first one so wait until we announce voting is starting.
It is bracket competition, there will be a few rounds, the rounds will last 1 day each.
This is the internet, there are people out there who would post commercials, vulgarities, obscenities, etcetera. "Inappropriate" is anything most people wouldn't want to see anyway, we're a nice web site.
That said, I can envision a naked competition, maybe there are members who would like that, especially people from Scandinavian countries
. I do think if the private parts are creatively obscured, it could conceivably work.

@dgholstein - Made me think of the "Naked Cowboy" in New York.
Compared to his guitar, a fiddle doesn't offer much to hide behind.
