OK, well you asked for it... should I just get any old arrangement or is there a good one that someone knows about that I can download? Sorry if this is already mentioned in the video.

For reference, I am posting the link to the sister thread on this under the old time category:

Hi All... just got the tune down for Angelina Baker, to get the basic pattern. Now it's practice and practice, the C# and the B is sometimes flat, but if I wiggle a little into it, it sounds more homey and old-timey. Plus it seems like the beginnings of natural vibrato. However, am I wrong, is this just a bad habit and should I instead be practicing the notes dead on with the finger placement?

This is fiddle music, old time folk, music of the people. Put your heart into it and play it as you feel it, aint no wrong way.remember, the vast majority of these folks didnt read music, the tunes where passed down by ear with each fiddler playing it there way. be part of that tradition
I like that > SWEET > thats music.

Well, here's my submission, thinking it had to be in before the 28th--probably confused as usual on that. I enjoyed working on my version of the tune--first part melody, second part adds drones. I found it's somewhat beyond my current ability, at least to play perfectly, but it's what it is right now.
Apparently obligatory note on playing experience that's used for submissions now--I'm on my 8th month of returning to the fiddle after about 15 years off, having played for 5 years prior to that, first learning in my 40's.
Being a newbie to YouTube I spent the past 2 days trying to get YouTube to accept my video. It kept putting a green line across the video and telling me it was "shaky, would I like YouTube to fix it". I tried that once and it didn't change anything that I could see. Eventually I went back to my old digital camera and it took that fine though it also wanted to fix the "shaky" for that too--I told it no. I don't understand anything about any of that but eventually I got an upload that looks OK to me and doesn't have a green line through it.
(I deleted my previous post that had the downloadable guitar tracks--those aren't needed any longer, and will spare everyone the autoplay of that.)

Both of you ROCK > Steve and Fred > this thread that Barry has going here has been a huge influence on my playing this instrument. I so much wanted to get in on this. > I am just not ready > I still have much to learn. > but I will put something out on this down the road > this tune is SWEET!!! and has taught me a lot about the music of this instrument. I really enjoyed listening to both of you. Looking forward to others that may be posting.

Sorry about the plane ... I don't have any control over their timetable ...
If you think you can, or you think you can't, you're probably right.

Played om Barry's fiddle XD
Hahaha! First day i have it, thought that it would be great start to play on it for Fiddler's contest. The bow is Barry's too =) I'm happy with that one (fiddle i mean)! It's kinda unusual, but was very fun!

aww! sorry to have missed out on this one.... i didn't realise the deadline was the 28th and since i've only been playing for 2 wks, i'm not quite fast enough yet to play along with the track.... also very challenged in the vid posting dept. lol!
love all the above submissions, though, and looking forward to the next comp (that's not tooo difficult!)
thanks for the motivation, barry.
~good luck and congrats to the winners!
