I'd like to facilitate another group project, but I need some help first.

Alright, so I'd really like to facilitate another Mini Group Project, but I need help with the sheet music and legalities of it.  I'm willing to do all the leg work, but in selecting music, I am finding it difficult, at best, to find sheet music.  With that being said, I'm curious what everyone else's thoughts are.

What if I pay for sheet music?  I assume that anything I pay for, even if the copyright has expired,  would most likely be covered under some form of copyright laws for the publisher or arranger, thus prohibiting the open distribution of said work to those that would want to participate in the project.  I guess what I'm really trying to figure out, is what people have done in the past to make the process easier and slightly less confusing.

Any help in this would be Super helpful.

Great question.

Some works are public domain.

Sometimes we do things that technically we should not have done.
I always write my own arrangements.

Okay everyone, I'm thinking about keeping it relatively simple to start with, so I'm thinking something in the Public Domain for sure.  I'm looking at Beethoven's Fur Elise.

I think I've found a relatively simple arrangement that I can break down in to four parts that would prevent us from having to worry about any copyright infringement etc.  I need some feedback though.  If there is interest, I'll get to work on it this week, and we will go from there.  Let me know what you guys think.

Wookieman, if you're willing to do the ground work, I think you'll find lots of people interested in the project.  (Pick Me!)

Just remember we are all at different levels, so make it too hard and us lower levels will opt out, but too easy and the more experienced players will find it boring.

Go for it!

cheers

If you think you can, or you think you can't, you're probably right.

Yep, I think I got an in on some music too.  I've got some help from 4easysheetmusic.com.  The owner is going to send me his three part version of the theme from "Raiders of the Lost Ark," so I'm pretty excited about that.  He's providing the music, royalty free, in exchange for a little recognition in our final product, so I think that is where the project is headed.  As soon as I get the sheet music, and can create the tracks, I will post the project in a separate thread with the appropriate title.  I hope the song will get everyone as excited as it does me!

Sounds good, Wookieman! Count me in, as long as there's a part that I'm able to play.

Sounds like a fun project.   As long as there is a part for us newbies I'm in.

Don't worry Ginny, I'm actually adding a part to it that will be just for us newbs. I think it will be just challenging enough that we learn a little something, but not so scary that you aren't willing to take the challenge. I'm already learning a lot just trying to add the part.  It will be done here in the next couple of days for sure.  HOPEFULLY, I'll have it done tonight, but I can't guaruntee that.  I probably shouldn't have even said it.
