I felt like joining the party - great contributions folks !
So - thanks to Panda's fine efforts, I have done a "play-along" on top of her sterling work (the accompaniment version) ! I retained Panda's original as the most "present" part and my play-along is mixed in. It's not very good - this was my first attempt - but I enjoyed trying it SO DARNED MUCH I had to share it - and I sure hope it doesn't overly detract too much from Panda's original work!
Details -
* Panda's original captured in .wav format, then played back from Windows media player
* Played along on EV with no effects, recording directly to laptop using NCH RecordPad
* Mix performed using Audacity - and roughly lining up our start-point....
* Final capture of combined tracks using NCH SoundTap
As it happens - RRV was the first tune I picked out on the guitar, over 40 years ago...... this doesn't half "take me back" ROFL...
I'll try get a solo version with video if / when I can arrange the cam and get feedback on bowing technique. I have posted the joint RRV on SoundCloud - this embedded link should play it I believe -
I would say "enjoy" - but that's probably too strong a word - just let it drift over you !

Well, thank you Panda-P - it was a blast! My guitar work has always been solo, and on the very odd occasion I've had to "join-in" I'm ruined - unless you do this all the time - it's very hard to immediately adapt to other players' tempo, timings, individualities and so on. But the RRV is well-known to me, so matching the original timings wasn't so difficult - and was able to throw in a bit of improvisation - anyway thank you again - without your original work I wouldn't have tried.... It's a PARTY - yeahhhh... Cool !

That was the first time I did violin/guitar a duet, if that's what you mean. I tried to do something before that, but it was guitar/guitar.
@Panda-P
LOL - no, no, no - it wasn't a reference to your efforts at all - what I was referring to were my own limitations. Basically, in over 40 years of my playing guitar, I have always found it very difficult to play along with another performer (unless I break off into some kind of freaky lead). I've read Pierre's and others' comments regarding playing in an orchestra - to be able to do that and play alongside upwards of 70 other musicians must be totally awesome!
So, for me, even attempting to do a play-along on EV with another performer after my short exposure to the instrument - was like a "real first". My words weren't a reference to your accompaniment track at all!
And by the way - rather than just hijacking your work I *should* have asked you if it would be OK before I did combined track - but I didn't want to post the suggestion in the forum - and then fail miserably !
Finally -
@Barry @StoneDog @KindaScratchy - thanks for your encouragement !

here's my rrv party contribution: A verse for @RosinedUp with no fancy stuff, a verse with a few doublestops, a verse with occasional vibrato and gliss' . Sorry, @Ferret, they all have some analog delay effect. (Only three whiskeys; a lightweight compared to Pierre @Fiddlerman) g

@Panda-P you don't hear it loud enough if you adjust the slider in the speaker icon of the video playback box all the way to the top?

@schiack He's a natural-born band leader isn't he? Better watch out though, that's why the band Cream broke up so quickly. They discovered that not everyone in the band can be the leader. He may be kicking you out of his rocking band soon.
