@cdennyb, @Barry, @Ripton, @coolpinkone  - okelly dokelly - I said I'd get back -

So, if any of you want to fit in an "early day" practice / SJ session (your time) - here's a quick timezone map showing the hours I can easily fit into and join in, without me having to pull an all-nighter......

I've included timezones from Hawaii, Alaskan, Pacific, Mountain, Central, Eastern, and poor old me as GMT+1 ( actually BST ), from left - to - right

I've shown times in green, in the BST column, where I am "generally available" - I can always shift breakfast, lunch or dinner - that's not an issue - let's get my priorities right, fiddlin comes first.... LOL.   The areas in yellow and orange are times across the mainland States and Alaska which, in these timezones, map onto my good (green) times.  The bits in red on my BST timezone are "difficult times" for me, although in extreme situations, as you know, can be arranged !

The times specifically in orange, for your own timezone, just highlight the "early hours" between 5am and 10am in YOUR timezone for any early-in-the-day sessions you might want to run - and of course, how they map onto my time.

So, if you fancy an early-day SJ practice/session - these yellow and orange times map pretty well into my own day, and like 9 times out of 10, I'll be around to watch and participate.  And in fact, even if it is a "late evening or into early morning" session (for you) - as long as it hits me no earlier than 5am, that's cool as well !

I *think* the following table is correct..... if I've totally goosed it up, let me know!

tz-1.JPGImage Enlarger

Cool beans !   Morning SJ sessions (your side) coming up soon - anyone up for it, pick your preferred time(s) and let me know....    Because of the numerous timezones your-side, and since I've no idea who-is-where, it is too difficult for me to pick a good time for you....  best left for you folks to choose...  but let's do it !

I took the plunge today and done my first ever SJ! Didn't go too well, the cat started attacking me and ITunes randomly started playing. But it's over now and I'm ready to do it again! :D

Thanks Toni. I'm looking forward to watching you both sometime.

Same as here Billy. I'm hoping to squeeze another in either tomorrow of Friday, depending on who is in the house. The cat will also be  getting locked out. :P

Congratulations. It is so beneficial to perform in front of others and that site gives you the opportunity. Very happy you took the plunge SilverHalide. Sorry that I missed it.

@SilverHalide - eventually found you on SJ - wish they had a "quick way" of locating an artist - or maybe I'm just not seeing it !   Anyways, you're added so I'll get notified and tune-in for support !!!

I know, Billy, it's difficult to find people, specially if they are using real names but Fiddle fest should help! :)

Uni is starting on Monday and I have a short forensic course going on for the next month too so I will be playing whenever I have the chance - no point in keeping a schedule lol.

I'm also treating myself to a new bow as a reward for getting this far. Yippee!

Anyone know when the next Fiddlefest is scheduled for? I looked on SJ and couldn't find anything in the calendar or any players listed that had that as a title under their performance info.dunno

Maybe not going to have one?dazed

I'd like to know so I can either plan for it or forget about it. Either way, a date would be nice to know.cheers

What exactly is FiddleFest? I keep hearing mention of it, but I also have not seen anything about it on Street Jelly.

well, a bunch of us "fiddlers" from here get together on the same day and select a 30 min or less, sometimes more, slot on SJ and put on a "live show"... you know. safety and strength in numbers kind of thing. Show off our ability to play the violin and such. It's a real hoot!

StringFest  will be on Nov 22nd, Bill Gunn will be taking over the name fiddlefest and doing one sometime after StringFest.

I changed the name because a lot of classical players thought it was straight fiddle music. So now with StringFest I hope to attract a more diverse group of musicians.

As always, no matter if its StringFest or Fiddlefest, everyone is welcome

Well, no disrespect intended as always but...

If it happens every year on an annual basis AND it happens around the same time of year, (Nov 22nd or thereabouts) and last year it was called "Fiddlefest" and it originated here...

well it should stay called "Fiddlefest" and if you choose to put on a strings thing later on then I'm all for it.

Just sayin', maybe bad timing for a name change and not a date change as well.

Maybe, for just this once, it could be "StringFest, the event formerly known as FiddleFest" (think Prince). Then when Bill takes it over, he can promote it as "Back by popular demand...FiddleFest!".

It's all about the marketing. :)
