My four year old daughter has taken an interest in playing the violin.  She likes to pluck the strings on mine and has been asking for one of her own.  What is the best way to get her started and teaching her to read the notes?

Congratulation's .... Start with finding her the right size violin, either to purchase or to rent. Then get her on the right track with formal lesson's. If you play violin and read music, your help 'given properly' will help her immensely. Just be carefull not to push her to hard. She's definately starting at the right age.

Good luck to her.      crossedfingers

buy the Suzuki book Nurtured by Love and read it. Then find a Suzuki studio near you and go visit. Talk to alot of people, students and teachers before settling on one. They are not all the same. She shouldnt learn to read notes right away in my opinion. The Suzuki violinist by William Starr is also a good book. You might find them at your library too.
