Thanks for posting that Barry. It seems like a quick way for those who don't read music to learn the piece. I'd all the possibilities covered to make it easy for everyone.

The rhythm is easy enough to memorize.

Thanks Barry, looking forward to learn it, will you put your own sheet music of it though? A B D means nothing to me, but when I see the notes on the music sheet I know how to play them.

NV, look at the numbers, they are the fingers you will use in first position on the A [in black] and E [in red] strings. If I knew the solfege notes I would translate to french for you LOL.

OK, I'll be the first to bite. Here is me on the newly revised Angelina Baker. I know, my bow arm is flailing around too much - I am in the playroom and my 9yo is doing the video. I am pretty sure this is the version without background commentary from the 6 yo wink

And for a little extra entertainment, my 9yo decided to try the song too.laugh Here is her attempt after listening to me run through it umpteen times:

Go easy on her - poor kid is stuck with me for a teacher! facepalm

I think her violin needs some bridge work, but I am not up to trying that yet.

Ok, I just made this the first song to learn with my new Fiddle.  Great piece for my first try.

Thanks Barry... this online learning thing is new for me too, but so far it has worked the best.smile

The string switch is still a little hard since I haven't really used the E string yet. I gotta work on that squeak. And.... I guess I gotta just resign myself to standing while I fiddle cuz my bowing goes all wild when I sit down. tongue

For the most part I have the finger part down. I just gotta be able to hold the tune in my head so I can get the rhythm right. I also made the mistake of watching a couple of YouTube videos, so I keep trying to sneak some shuffly type stuff in there. BUT I am trying the whole "learn the basics first" thing this time around.

In case you haven't figured out, I was always the kid in school that got in trouble for looking ahead in the textbooks to see what was coming up later.

I'm finding it hard not to do the shuffle when playing. It kind of just gets in there.

The other thing I find myself doing all the time is ending part A on an A and not a D.  I think it's from playing it differently but I'll get the D.

I am glad you asked. I think Barry is waiting for someone to post a decent progress vid with the doublestops. I got cucumbers and zucchini coming out my ears right now so I haven't had time to do a progress video.surprised

How do yo know you live in a small town? You gotta lock your car doors in the summer so folks don't leave you some free zucchini!rofl
