I live near a big city. It's 2 blocks long and has 3 bars. I'll send some zuchini your way.
Ha ha - my grandma lives on fourth street. It used to be the edge of town until some big shot bought the brome field and built a bunch of houses on it. Now there is one more block past where she lives.
I think the population is still below 300 though, even with all the city folks who moved up from Topeka.

Hey Barry!
I know I am a slacker and a procrastinator!
Anyhoooo, I finally got a halfway decent take with doublestops in it.
Here ya go!

Oh, and I took my cheatsheet off the fingerboard. The tape wore out for the second time, so I figured it was time to say goodbye.

OK, time to revive a zombie thread. Barry is it cheating on the fiddle contest to ask you to put the ABCs for A and B up again?
I still have A memorized, but I don't know part B.
Here is what I remember:
ABD ABD ABDAB ABD EFED EFEDBD
I am really hoping my shoulder is better in time for the contest, but even if it isn't I still want to learn the rest of this song.

For those still struggling with how to play this tune, I found the following site:
http://www.alltabs.com/search......+The+Baker
You need to download the TefView program to see the tabs and dots, but it is a nifty little doodad. Angeline the Baker 1 for mandolin seems pretty doggone close to the version Barry was teaching.

OK, I had thought I had a practice thread on this song, but I guess I just posted to Barry's thread. Since Barry is checking in on us this weekend, I thought I would let him know I haven't given up on this song. The B part is kicking my ... bow though.
Anyhoo, here is a vid I shot of my practice session last night. The kids mostly left me alone although I was distracted at one part. If anyone is wondering at the change in my hold, it is because it is easier on my shoulder to hold the fiddle a little lower in an old-time hold. Plus my shoulder rest doesn't fit right anymore.
I know I need work, but for now I am just happy to be sawing away again for more than a minute at a time. Once I get that B part memorized I will take another stab at a practice vid.
