Sounds like the melody was used for some other songs, like "The Battle of New Orleans".

Good playing!

Way to go Barry.....violin-1267

Can't get over how well you are suited to playing the viola.

I'm very impressed Barry, it sounded great. I have to agree with Fiddlerman, the viola seems suited for you and this type of playing.

So you were on StreetJelly again. :)
When I checked, quite recently, you hadn't been there for a few weeks. LOL

@Barry Nice work.

What do you think about posting the backing track alone so that folks could give the melody a try?

The melody fits on the G, D, and A strings, so it fits both violin and viola.

Yay!  Clap, clap, clap.  Yes I too have always loved this tune because my uncle used to sing it (New Orleans version).

Opportunity is often missed because it wears suspenders and looks like hard work.

@Barry Never mind.  I don't think I'll be using it.

Great job @Barry .

This has been my go to tune at the jam session I attend. That is until this week, just last night.  I have started learning St Anne's Reel and I kept switching to it and got myself all confused!!

Nicely done Barry.  It looks like the viola is your kinda fiddle.
