I recently bought a viola.  I have pretty much decided to put Zyex strings on it, now I have to decide if I should put the aluminum or the silver D on.

If you have ever played Zyex strings on your viola, which d string did you have?    If you have used both strings, what was the sound of the silver much more clearer and focused than the aluminum?

Did the silver d string blend well with the other strings?

🤔 I didn't think Zyex had a Silver D available.

well shoot, I think you're right.  They have silver for violin but not viola that I can see.

Well, guess that solves my problem. LOL

@Oma, how do you like the Zyex on ypur viola? Are they bright, mid or warm? Well, since this makes a difference, how does the viola lean, too, bright, mid or warm? I am always interested in different strings and the affects on the instrument. I like the Fiddlerman on my Fiddlerman violin, but they don't make viola strings.

Thanks

Hey Mouse,  the strings are suppose to come today in the mail.  I'll let you know how it goes.   The Viola is an old Ton Klar Dancla, Sound wise it seems to be somewhere in the middle, it resonates quite nicely.

The closest music store to me doesn't have any viola strings at all.  Oddly enough they didn't even have any violin strings the last time I checked.  The closest town to me is  Weiser, ID (home of the National Old-Time Fiddle Contest)  you would have thought they would have carried fiddle strings and accessories.

Now the store has a new owner.  She said they are going to start carrying fiddle accessories in mid June, she's trying to get everything in, in time for the fiddle festival.
