Nice video. Which one do you like best? I need to listen to it a couple more times to pick a favorite. Btw, nice Hollywood ending on the movie. Steven Spielberg would be proud.

LOL, Great ending. roflol

Very difficult for me to hear any difference. I didn't know that the synthetic hair was so flexible. I'm not really sure if I ever tried it before.

I see you switched bow grips closer to the frog. How does that feel for you?

Thanks for the post.1st-place

Great comparison, love the ending, I'll make sure I don't rub the two bows together. I have 4 different bows also, and I seem to like my octagon best, not sure why I think it the weight or the balance. I jut know I like it. Your video inspires me to look at them more closely to figure out what the differences are.

God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen!  Nice playing with all the bows.  I think you favour the last bow!

I like the last two bows -- the two cheapest ones:P --- the brazil wood with real horse hair and synthetatic hair. I felt the cherry wood and composite kind of muffled the sound of your violin and make it sound dull. The real horse hair and synthetic hair kind of make your violin sounds brighter.

I liked the composite one the best. They all probably sound a lot different IRL though. xD

This makes me want to compare my bows now.

Did anyone know the tune ?? drooling

Is it Cliffs of Moher at the end?

On "Cheap eBay violins" … Just tell people they are like a Charlie Brown Christmas Tree.  With a little love, and some practice, they too can be made beautiful.

To be honest, I didn't realize the blow up the first time I watched the video, it was the second or third time after I read someone mentioned it.  It was quite an effect, though, did your son do that?

Sorry for reviving a dead thread. Anyway just wanted to show you my old and new bows. I like my new bow. Its easier for me to grip, the stick is thicker, more horse hair and it responds better compare to my old bow. Old on left and new on right.

I posted some very interesting info for everyone to read over on my bow re-hair thread, from an expert in the field.

Over on string academy (invitation only site unfortunately), I asked a question and received that very detailed explanation on the subject.

Sorry about hi-jacking your thread, but I thought the info to be of great interest seeing you've tested 4 different bows here, perhaps everyone can further analyze what they have heard and understand why they heard it like they did.
