I have come to a great realization!! I played for 2 years with 1 set of strings.  I tend to use everything until it falls apart.  Anyway, when I got new strings I never noticed any difference - feel or sound!!!

I just put on a new set after another couple of years and I notice a huge difference sound and feel.

I think, can it be? that maybe, just maybe this is proof I am getting better!!  Or is it that I notice because I am a gimp at present and not running around like a headless chicken?

Violinist start date -  May 2013  

Fiddler start date - May 2014

FIDDLE- Gift from a dear friend. A 1930-40 german copy, of a french copy of a Stradivarius.  BOW - $50 carbon fiber. Strings - Dominants with E Pirastro Gold string.

My guess is that your strings were more worn this time than other times. Probably also that you are better. :)
