I am in the market for a cotton or linen fabric draw-string 4/4 sized violin bag.  Unfortunately, the fiddlerman shop variety is made of polyester.  To minimize the cost of shipping, I would prefer to limit items within the USA.  Silk screen advertisements could get awkward, and I will simply reject anything with “Kennedy Violins” on it.

It need not be new.  I will gladly accept a creation made from a pillow case if dimensionally appropriate.

@Irv

Exactly what dimensions do you want? From top to bottom and width so that when the drawstring is pulled, it does not pull across the pegbox?

@Mouse and others.  26 inches by 10 inches would be great.

An obvious forum problem is that titles cannot be edited (although the deletion of the word bag in the title will make for some interesting comments).

Well, @Irv, the fact that the title said you wanted a cotton or linen violin is why I checked your post out! I wanted to see your cotton or linen violin.

I will see what I have in the way of a soft cotton or linen. Well, I know I don’t have linen. I never buy linen. It always shrinks when I wash it, and if I can’t throw what I make in the washer, I don’t buy that material. Just a general rule when I buy material. I believe I have some white soft bamboo muslin, I will have to check later.

It will have to be a quick sew because I quilted two rows of my brother-in-law’s quilt last week and that foot pedal operation on my sewing machine wiped out my knee. I was very surprised I could not walk that evening and was up all night. I haven't tried again.

I may give it a try for you next week. It shouldn’t take long. Pretty sure I have a cord to insert into the top for a drawstring left over from wine bags I used to make for a winery my daughter used to work at on Long Island. She sold them. I embroidered the winery’s name in them. I have pretty much stopped the machine embroidery now, so there won’t be any “Irv” embroidered onto it. LOL

I think I have a 120 vac sewing machine somewhere on the homestead if it would be a help to you.  It uses the same type of belt as the pedal.  You would have to add a foot switch.

No., I will be fine. I just need to set a timer to remind me to get up. It won’t take nearly as long to stitch that up,as it did to do the quilting. It is just a matter of a side seam, bottom seam and a casing at the top for a drawstring. Easier than the wine bags. I made fancy dancy casings for the drawstrings for those and has two side seams. I will let you know when it is done.
