Did violin bow always all have winding and grip?

Surely if you re build violins and are actually going to make a bow, with chisels and hammers you would know if a violin bow has binding and what it is used for.
Best advice I can give is study a book on the history of violin bows.
On a different note, did you take a look at the learning books I mentioned, as you seemed to be having trouble locating a violin instruction book, even though there are hundreds available.
