It's almost time for a string change for my fiddle. Currently I'm using Vision Solos (silver D) which compliment my violin greatly. Actually the most complimentary set of strings I've used on this one so far. So I'm going to get another set, at least the GDA. However I'm not too happy about the E string. Don't get me wrong, it's a great E string, it just doesn't blend well with the other strings. The open E sound kinda shrill at times on this particular one as well. The violin are on the bright/brilliant side, so it needs a string that balance the sound so it doesn't become too overbearingly bright which a lot of E strings tend to be. I've previously used Kaplan solution and Eudoxa, plus some other strings back in the day which I don't recall. Both sounded weak. Any suggestions?
