That is one highly cool looking light-up fiddle, EJ! I wonder how much the lighting and whatever it uses for power adds to the weight, though.
The scroll or any other sort of "decoration" like that will affect the sound of a stringed instrument at least a little. If it has more mass than the standard scroll, it will likely add a little bit of sustain, for example. One of my guitars has a brass plate added to the headstock for just that reason. Shape of the scroll or whatever on a violin probably also has other effects on the sound, but I couldn't begin to try and guess what it might do specifically.

I would think one could get at least some of the effect by putting a strip of florescent tape on the bow stick and having a black light on nearby.

Now it's ruined. I couldn't stand that the curve in the bow was wrong so I tried one last time to bend it and it collapsed again so I decided to find out for sure if they are hollow.
THIS IS NOT A TYPICAL FIDDLERMAN BOW. I PURCHASED THIS AT A VERY REDUCED PRICE KNOWING IT WAS NOT RIGHT.
!COOL!
