I believe most workshops nowadays use the parameters of certain famous violins by well known makers to make up their product lines. Does anyone have a good resource that lists bunch of the often copied violins and their individual sound tendencies? Do they tend to use these copies on lower end instruments, or is it reserved for the upper echelons of their lines?

Additionally, I'm interested in the Fiddlerman line of instruments. I believe some of them are made at the GCV workshop, right? I play on an Apprentice, and I was wondering the other day about where the design came from; be it a copy of a well known violin, or from else where. @Fiddlerman , Do you have any info or a resource somewhere that talks more about where your line of instruments comes from?

Or maybe, I'm totally wrong in thinking that all modern violins are copies! I'm not sure. I'd be happy with any input,

Most of our instruments are copies for the most common/traditional Strad of Guarneri. The Apprentice is a Strad template.
