My family and I are getting into playing the violin.  my two oldest (6 & 7) are playing a 1/2 that I bought off of a teacher and am very pleased with it.  My wife and I are sharing a 3/4 we got from a friend when we thought we could all use.  I am now on the search for a violin for my wife and I to share.  I have narrowed it down to two.  The Stentor II and the Richard Bunnel G2.  Do you all have any thoughts on the two?  I'm leaning toward the G2, Kennedy Violins have been awesome to communicate and work with so far.  Are these to good, or do you have another suggestion.  I just want to get the best bang for our buck.  my range is about up to $250 right now.  Thanks!

have you looked at any of the stuff at fiddlershop.com?  The guys that run the business are really great, and if you gave them a phone call, they will hook you up!  Regardless of what you get, they will not treat you wrong.

I should add, that he will definitely have something for you, and he has video reviews of almost everything right there on his website.  So you can see exactly what you're going to get, and hear it being played before you purchase.  I think most of the members here are boing to be a little biased toward fiddlershop, because the owner is the guy that runs this website.  He really helps motivate all the members, and has some really great tutorials all over the place.  I'm sure you saw some.  Enjoy, happy hunting!

Thanks wookieman :-)
Truthfully though, if the Richard Bunnel G2 is any good, that price is great.

I got to play on one The Stentor II which a new student of mine had and I would probably stay away from it.

If we can help you we'll be happy to do so but we only offer Cecilio violins in that specific price range. :-(

Thanks for the input.  I have really enjoyed your site and it looks like the only violin in my range on your page is the CVN-500.  I've read your description, and your video. They are both great.  Do you think this is a good choice for us? Also, so you all warranty your instruments?

Actually jbelokur,

I played on a couple great CVN-500's and there are some players here that have that instrument as well. Hopefully they will give their input here as well.

Read Cecilio's warranty here:

http://www.ceciliomusic.com/ca.....-pg-6.html

We, Fiddlershop, allow returns for up to 30 days minus shipping costs. Cecilio is one of the only instruments that we sell (dropship) but do not stock. We prefer to stock and ship instruments but cannot in this case while remaining competitive. That being said, we deal with Cecilio consistently and even accept losses from time to time. IOW, if a customer is not satisfied with the sound and would like to return the instrument, we will issue a full refund even if Cecilio won't accept the return or charge us a restocking fee.
