The holes in the front?  Drill used?  I guess might be easier to make then cutting out the f shape!!

How would you adjust the sound post?

How in the world would you use a bow on it?  .....

Must be a mandolin!!

Looks more like a mandolin or something to me as well. 

Here is an old German Lap Violin !

I regularly browse through that sellers items, i find old instruments and sounds so fascinating.

From the frets and the type of bridge, I would have to guess it is some species of mando or something related.

I'd say it may be a mandolele or tenor guitolin but probably not a mandobanjo.  Certainly some sort of Frankenstein instrument.
