I was going to post this under violin care, but couldn't find it. Any way, here it is:
I have known this fact of bar soap long ago but just came up with this idea:
Bar soap could contro humidity: it release its moisture into air when the air is dry and trap the moisture in it when it is humid. So how about putting a piece of (used) bar soap in a violin case for your violin for humidity control? Although i have never done any test to (like using a hydrometer) to see how it effective it is.
