Another manufacturer you might consider researching is Gliga, an eastern-european-made brand.

When I was researching for my own purchase, Gliga was high on my list of inexpensive (relatively speaking) instruments. The same sort of people who don't like the chinese-made instruments turn their noses up at Gliga, as well, but you'll find more favorable reviews on the whole available on the web.
