I would like to buy something to help me record my playing at a better quality then my crappy digital camera. So I'm looking for advice since it seems like webcams don't have a good integrated mic build in anyway. couple of options possible:

- USB microphone on a stand that I could sync with my video
- finding a webcam that actually don't pick background noises
- violin pick up mic thingie (but would it capture my voice also?)
- anything else I am not aware exist.

I'm on a budget here, would not like to pay more then 50-60$ since I'm trying to save for a new bow. You guys have suggestions? I'm not savvy about this and so far my searches only came up with stuff over 100$

That's a tough price range.... If you had an audio interface you could pic up a Sure SM 58 mic for cheep and you would be amazed at the sound. I don't know what kind of webcam you have but you could check to see if it has any mic accessorizes?

Here's a couple USB mic that is probably the best you can find ay that price range:

I would recommend putting money aside for a better one though.... ;-)

Update: go with the second one I was just on the phone with my keyboard player and he has that and says it works great for the price and you can put it on a mic stand so you get it up high by your violin and of course your wonderful voice ;-)

This is the microphone that they used on our instruments for the Rock Opera.

The Isomax 2 is a microphone that "Does it All" You can use it on instruments for clear, articulate sound, use it on choirs for awesome claritly, and use it as a hidden mic or stage mic. In this configuration, the IsoMax 2 comes wired with an XLR for console connection.

I'm working on getting a distributor to offer it on Fiddlershop.
Right now I offer "The Band", "The Realist", and a clamp on bridge piezo by "Barcus Berry".

But can a violin pick up serve also as a microphone for your voice? (I picture myself holding my violin upside down by the handle as if it was  hand held mic), I mean, er.. no? I need something that does it all. That is why I was also eyeing webcams since I don't have one.

Hey NV that second link I gave you is right in your budget and it does it all. Plus it is a USB mic that needs nothing else but your computer and it comes with recording software too.

Here's a link to FMs suggestion and hey that's really cheep! Since he has experience with it I would try it...damn cheep price but you will need an audio interface connected to your computer. They're not cheep.

That would be super cheap Scott but those are the prices for the clips. The actual microphone is over $200. I'm trying to get dealer rights to countryman products and will see how cheap I can sell them for.

Thanks

We spoke about this once. I think that one of you members were going to try it.

Anyone know anything about it?

I know FM.... I really don't know why I joke around so much that it gets to the point it's not funny.

NV you will have a blast with this mic: http://www.sweetwater.com/stor.....tail/Q1UCW

Do you want to get serious ? Or just have fun coming out of the closet ?

That seems like a great deal. $50 and you don't need an interface. We would be able to enjoy our favorite show in HQA

I thought you were serious. However, the closet seen was real funny.

http://www.ebay.com/itm/ws/eBa.....007954032+

I found other sites which sell it for over $100

Hope I helped!note

I checked out both mic + FM pricey stuff lol, thanks for the suggestions. The usb ones are really perfect. I don't want anything professional just something for people to stop saying my sound is too low on my video LOL (though I was expecting it to be fixed on week 3 video).

Not a problem I wrote down all suggestions, read the reviews and you all suggested quality stuff! Would be easier if I was living in USA with free shipping etc lol.

NV? stay in Canada, The cost of living in SoCal is about 10 times more than where you live. Shipping costs? Montreal is one of the most prettiest cities that I have ever visited and there's music stores and computer stores everywhere there.

Well when the UPS guy gives you a bill for 75$ extra to pay for customs and taxes (like it happened to my violin) you think twice before ordering something not on amazon.ca (and free shipping eligible items too). And I checked in stores here, it's either out of stock or ridiculously pricier then on the internet that's why I'm shopping online. Thanks again guys you really helped me with this heartdone. I just need to read reviews on for my final decision between a usb mic or a webcam.
