For some reason, I decided to look up information on a baroque violin bow and why it was used. I came cross this tidbit of i formation and found it quite interesting. It might be fun to try a baroque bow, if I ever got the chance.

Rachel Barton Pine talks about the baroque bow at the beginning of one of her video (the first ~5 minutes of this one). She demonstrates the difference between a baroque and modern bow.  If you Google it (i.e., Rachel Barton Pine baroque bow), a competitor site sells an inexpensive one.

Hey, GREAT info on the Baroque Bow!

Saw Peakfiddler (on YouTube) using a Baroque bow in one of his tutorials, right after I had started violin - remember thinking "wow, somebody overtightened that bow!" (lol)

Later, I learned it was supposed to be good for playing lively, traditional Celtic-type music - also discovered there are many types of bows!

Thanx for bringing some attention to it - been considering trying one!

Funny thing is that we have some.
We don't have them on our site yet though. We'll work on that.

This video is great for showing the difference between using a Baroque bow & a modern bow - and why.

I start this video where they talk about bows.

This video has some bowing tips for using a Baroque bow, playing Baroque music.

I start this video where he talks about using the Baroque bow.

Thought I posted these videos somewhere else, but I can't find them.
