Not so much a review, it is a bit early for a full review, but I finally have a bow I am happy with. I have been picking up on violin again after last year missing a lot of playing (due to working on guitar for an Orchestra engagement that fell through and then followed by some serious health issues).
But I realized I did not care for any of the bows I have. It's not that any are bad, just they are not what my hand is expecting if that makes any sense. I kind of settled on 3 to choose from in the CodaBow line: The Joule, Diamond SX and Diamond GX and ended up going with the SX. It has a much more lively feel and playing instantly feels easier with it to me. The Joule and GX are nice also, but the SX seemed to have the best balance for what I am looking for at this point in time.
If I only played electric, especially extended 5 or 6 string I would have gone with the Joule, and if I only played acoustic I might have gone with the GX.
The SX just feels great and adds a nice focus with my NS WAV4 violin, and feels and sounds really good with my Fiddlerman Soloist. I may end up changing strings on the Soloist though. That bow with that violin and the Vision strings is almost *too* focused now. Not bad, but a bit much for what I am playing at this time.
The other sweet part is I got the SX in an Amethyst, very pretty and a fair match for my purple NS.
