I have a new violin that I ordered from the Fiddlershop. Ming Jiang Zhu 905 A
I love her. ( her name is Ming or Lily)
I have been playing on the Fiddlerman original Soloist for 1 3/4 years. I put new Larsen strings on the violin to match the Ming Jiang Zhu and she is even more lovely. That being said. I am keeping the Soloist because she is just that lovely.. she plays more and more beautifully all the time... what a great violin! So more about the new violin.
The Ming Jiang Violin is so beautiful sounding. It came out of the box beautiful and it was quality and love at first sight. However over the next three weeks the violin opened up especially the last 9 days. It is really smooth sounding and it doesn't have a shrill.
I will write an official review later. I just wanted to introduce the new violin. The service at the Fiddlershop has been lovely. They are kind and patient. Oh yea, the violin comes so safe and perfectly shipped.. OMG... I had to wait seven days for it to freight across the country, with NO check ins until it got to California.
I don't think having a "better" violin makes me a better player because Pierre can play the 100 dollar violin better than I can play the Ming all day long.
But the new violin lets me hear the result of my 3.5 years of playing better. It rings and responds. I can play it loud or soft. It yields beautiful notes and results. And it has pushed me to be playing the best I have ever played. I have been playing a lot of violin and doing more technique and practice.
True story.... I gave myself goosebumps last night while playing. Not a full song or anything...just a string of notes that were the most beautiful I had ever heard.
More news later.... (not great pics... I was in my room... iphone)

Yay! Congrats on your new violin She's a beauty
I'm already coveting all the pretty pretty violins out there that I hope to someday be good enough to play. I'm certainly not worthy yet, lol.

Yes I can understand that, those moment can make it all worthwhile. I am very happy for you Toni. Your drive to be better is inspiring. And of course, I will also be waiting for more of your stories about your new violin, especially comparing the two.

Hi everyone thank you.
I will post more soon. I am going to get my original violin ready to sell. I can't justify 3 acoustics... even that is hard to do. But I am going home to get it all ready.
My mind even said.. "oh get some Larsen strings for it and see..." NO Toni no.
Two acoustic and the EV set up is enough.... um... but I could string it as a Viola.. NO Toni no!!!
Cheers.. and thanks for the comments.

@coolpinkone good choice. It has a nice warm tone and has a very even tone and volume across the strings. Looks like there are only 2 left now. They're selling like hot cakes.
A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort. ~Herm Albright

Ohhhh TONI ! You have a beautiful instrument there - Bill is lost for words.... so, congratulations on the new member to your violin family ( and go, on, restring the oldest as a viola, you'll love it ! And besides, you can then contribute more parts to the group projects !!!! )
Bill ( green with envy, but at the same time, totally pleased for you ! )
I seriously recommend not copying my mistakes. D'oh -
Please make your own, different mistakes, and help us all learn :-)

That violin does sound pretty, and I do love the feature with him playing so that we can hear what the violins sound like. Especially since it will be a long while before I am good enough to ever go to shops and test out violins with my own playing.

Thanks everyone. I sure love this violin... in addition to sounding nice I do enjoy the look of the violin.
I was very tempted to pick a different Ming JZ that was more appealing to my eye. Funny thing is .. in real life they are so much more pretty and now I am convinced I picked the exact perfect one for me.
The backs of the violin are much more subtle and classy in person.. hard to explain..but so rich and gorgeous even better in real life.
I have been very busy at work and working out and I have more to share about the violin. I will share and play more soon. Thanks again for everyone looking and being so supportive. And I am still playing my FM soloist every day also.
