ok, 2 weeks ago, i bought a violin from a "violin store".  they had 2 of the same model.  one sounded like it had a better sound, so that is the one i got.  i had no idea what i was doing, so i had them play them for me.  it sounds full and feels like it resonates well, but it doesn't seem to have the volume.  there is no name sticker inside.

It has helicore strings and good wood and finish.

It's kind of like the review fiddlerman did on the CVN500 and 6??.  From my computer, i liked the tone of the dark one, but it seemed more subdued.  Fiddlerman said that he liked the 500 more, but the darker one had potential.

Do i just need to keep playing it?  Different strings?  or what?

Again, i've only been playing for 2 weeks, but, i'm playin in a jam session and was wondering if there was anything i should do???

can you post some pictures? we'd love to see this new addition to your toybox.

I suspect you should probably leave the strings alone, if they are in fact really helicore strings. Nothing wrong with those. Tune it up and play some and let us all hear and/or see you play. We'll let you know...

Hey eoj02,

You actually don't necessarily need to do anything unless you suspect a problem. Helicore strings will give you about the strongest possible sound.

The sound-post is the heart and soul of the instrument and if it is not in the right spot, straight, or the right length you will not get the optimal sound quality or projection.

It's hard to fix this yourself expecially without the right tools and knowledge.
