Hi Fiddlerman,
I started violin lessons two months ago and my teacher says I have potential. I use a Palatino 450 for lessons and I am pleased with it and so is my teacher.
I am going to take the leap and order the black metallic silent electric Cecilio violin from kkmusicstore . I heard you play it on your You Tube video
I have a question
Out of the UPS box- will it require any set-up other than uprighting the bridge if it falls in shipment and tuning the strings?
In other words will I have to upgrade the strings and possibly the bridge etc to make it sound better?
You see I was so disappointed in the sound of a genuine Sojing violin which I bought on Ebay and I tried various things to make it sound better including adding a new Teller bridge and getting much better strings but it still sounds lousy. I did not pay much for the Sojing but trying to improve it became costly.
Have a great day and thanks for your great website

I have a blue, style 2 Cecilio electric violin and I love it! The fine tuner on the A string wasn't screwed in when I got it, but that was easy to fix. Other than that, all I had to do was set up the bridge and tune it!
I didn't really notice anything wrong with the strings that it came with, so I didn't change them. The violin is hard to keep in tune, though.
You can put a kun shoulder rest on it, but it doesn't fit exactly (at least not on style 2). You can still use a kun, it just doesn't fit tight enough and tends to fall off.
I think it's a pretty decent violin for the price.

I received the e-violin from the contest here. (Still working on getting a picture of me with it! Sorry!) I don't have an effects box..or an amp, but I don't mind the sound, since it lets me not disturb people. When it came to me from fiddlerman, I could play it right out of the box. You have to make sure the batteries are in though. It's a lot quieter than a traditional violin, but it doesn't have the nice rich sound that a wooden one has.
