Good morning,
I have been considering purchasing my niece who is 9 a violin for Christmas and a month of lessons to go along with. She is rather tall for her age, with long arms. Her mother and father are both very tall, athletic sorts who did well at basketball and she has inherited their height. Just by looking at her visually I think a 3/4 sized violin would fit her frame nicely at this point.
Any recommendations on a good instrument to start on? I'm not sure how enthusiastic she will be in the long run, so I don't want to spend an outrageous amount, but I also don't want her using a $99 kit.
Thank you in advance!

hello,
I can't say from personal experience but I've heard great things from this website and read some great reviews. Fiddlerman has three violins, the apprentice, concert and master violins that can all be bought in i believe 4 different sizes including 3/4. Of all the peeps i've talked with and reviews i've read i haven't really heard anything negative and they sound great from the reviews and don't cost an arm and a let. hope this helps a bit....If your interested in checking them out just hit the shop tab on top and the 4 violins Fiddlerman stands by are the first four on the page. Good luck shopping. I hope she loves it!
Fiddler shop has great customer service. never had any problems with them and they go out of their way to help. at least with all my purchases! again good luck!
don't be afraid to check out some local shops to just to compare if nothing else!

Yeah, I have used fiddlershop.com in the past and all the reviews are right about how great it is. I have been considering the Apprentice Violin for her, but I wasn't sure that maybe there were other things to consider when purchasing a fractional sized instrument.
I'm going to shop around but it really is a hard deal to beat!
