Has anyone ever heard of this brand? I do not have a model number and I'm actually having trouble looking it up online. I can't understand if they are cheap violins or decent. Someone is selling one for $215 which is a steal if it's any good. Always wanted a five string....and it looks pretty cool too. Black with the shape of a treble clef.

It looks amazingly like a fiddle that I tested about 7 years ago but I thought that violin was called Stratos. Anyway, I'll try to find out because that was a piece of junk.

Nope, it's this one. I think it's different:

My husband just looked at me like "and you need this because...?" so I guess I'm going to pass on it. It's that C string calling to me....how I love the C string....

I did see it, actually, when I was trying to find information on Straus.

I mean, I don't even need the one on craigslist, I was just thinking if it's a $1000 violin for $215....cool. If it's a $115 violin for $215, I'll pass.

When I wanted to buy an electric violin, no one was selling them in my area. I ended up on a vacation in Nashville and I picked mine up used at a Sam Ash. I debated between it and an acoustic violin with 5 strings and a built in pick up...but it had been painted this sparkly metallic green and I couldn't get past that.

NOW, of course, there are TWO electric violins on my craigslist!

And no, I still didn't get an amp for my other electric violin!

I only mention amps because I know what I encountered with my equipment.   But only you know how you want to use an electric violin. But that equipment really defines the violin.

My daughter owns a Samson Expedition XP308i Portable PA which I have also used on occasion. It's small but has an excellent and powerful quality. No built in effects besides reverb though.

I think these are popular but I don't know a lot about it.  My amp is also a guitar amp (Sienna) but I can hardly lift  it    !!!!!

Oh, yeah, I remember reading about that amp, Oliver. I am not playing any paid gigs or anything like that and I'm not really planning on it so that might be an inexpensive way to go. If it's any good.

Let me know if you're interested.  I have a high school relative who is an intern with the Philadelphia Orchestra,  Concert master of 3 youth orchestras, plays violin, viola and Mark Woods Viper and attended a Woods camp this year and has performed semi pro with a rock band.  She sometimes will answer my e-mail rofl

I play bass, and normally get some of my other bass playing friends asking me why I don't play a 5 or a 6.I always respond the same way.

I can barely keep track of 4 as it is.
