Hello there ...Mr Jim here ...
I have some part-used high-quality strings for sale. Me being me, I've gone through brand after brand in the quest for the 'best' sound, and as a result I have several sets of part-used strings which I figured might be of use to someone wanting to upgrade from a budget set, or change from steel core to synthetic core, or possibly try out a set of gut strings if you are already using synthetic core strings.
All the strings are in in very good condition, cleaned, and free from any damage.
So, here's what I have (complete sets), all normal gauge / tension, listed by make and type :
Synthetic core :
Corelli Crystal (1 set)
Corelli Cantiga (1 set)
D'Addario Zyex (1 set)
Pirastro Obligato (3 sets)
Pirastro Evah Pirazzi Gold (2 sets)
Gut core :
Pirastro Passione (1 set)
I'm also including a free extra brand new E string in every set, just in case. The choice of extra E strings (all steel) is :
Pirastro Oliv (loop end) (1)
Pirastro Obligato Gold (loop end) (1)
Pirastro Evah Pirazzi (ball end) (2)
Peter Infeld P101PT (ball end) (1)
Lenzner Goldbrokat (ball end) (2)
I'm selling each set for 25% of the retail price for new, and I'll fund the shipping costs.
So, prices will be :
D'Addario Zyex £10
Corelli Crystal £11
Corelli Cantiga £12
Pirastro Obligato £15
Pirastro Evah Pirazzi Gold £17
Pirastro Passione £19
If anyone is interested, please email me at jim@worldfiddlemusic.com
Thanks!
PS - I'm putting the shoulder rests in a separate thread.

But the big question, Mr Jim.. What ones did you eventually decide you personally like best? Or is the quest still ongoing?

Hi Daniel,
I think the Pirastro Passiones were the best yet.
I might try the Passione Solo. Reputedly they have a bit more punch (to match the extra cost!)
It's a long and expensive road, but it has to be travelled!
