It has occurred to me that my violin (playing) has never sounded better and I have to, at least mentally, note what the factors are.  Maybe it will all change tomorrow but it is interesting where one might wind up after many years.

The Violin

I made a crazy trade for my current violin and now I suspect it was a violin "in the white" with a varnish coating of WalMart latex.   It is what it is.

Bows

Have many.  Most play satisfactorily.  $100-200 range.  Most CF.

Chin Rest

Teka with modified FM "shoulder rest (foam).

Rosin

Just about any color.

Strings

E,A ..... Black Diamond 5272(?)

D,G ......Helicore light.  (Great move on a wild guess.)

Could hardly hear you in the background, Oliver, but what I did hear sounded really beautifull.

Where did you get the organ background music?

@ ftufc

No it is not the Bridge.  It is the acoustic I acquired on a hunch.  It was a $1700 gamble but I may have gotten lucky.

@ Barry

Yeah, 25% talent and 75% busting chops.

@Fiddlestix

If you want some great backup music for violin surf on Barry Taylor and/or Irish midis.  He wrote the book and it is great fun to jump into his tunes.

My recording techniques are horrible.  I need a software metered mixed.
