Hi All

I've posted a video of the violin that i bought in China. I've also posted a video of the same tune played on my Ragetti.

The first  vid is the Chinese souvenir and the second is the Ragetti. The souvenir is very unforgiving of bad intonation whereas the Ragetti is a little more 'layed back' about it.

The Chinese violin cost about 1100 yuan ($180)

To be fair, both are using Pro Arte strings This is not a test of my playing, its a test of two violins

What do you reckon?

The fist one sounds very bright but really not bad at all. I'd say that i like it. Though the second has a beautiful dark sound and i like the bass of that one. So, my LIKE goes to the Ragetti.

I like the first one as far as it has that tone that I can't describe...makes me think bagpipes...

The second one is warm and smooth.

You sound great in both. As a matter of fact I played them together it sounded quite nice.

Hi John,

I like both of them as they sound different but nice.

I think the first one, brought back from China, has lots of potentials even if t may not be played in yet.

Good buy, John.

thumbs-up

I listened to both side by side at the same time and found the similarities in each one interesting so I ran a sound analysis and was able to confirm the higher frequencies being identical.

I see these 2 instruments have a little room for future adjustments to be made to both bridges and sound post positions. Interesting John. They both sound pretty decent.
