I bought my Breton last September and I noticed today that the A string is going. Same place as the last one I restrung, on the B, but the Breton is also worn all the way up from the B because I'm playing more routinely in 2nd and 3rd position now.
The last lot lasted a year on the Gewa. This lot 9 months, but the A string is Dominant light, not medium. The E string is a Hill plain steel, which I'm not keen on either - it whistles a lot, so ootb Dominant meds with a wound E string next. I hope it doesn't affect the violin's tonal balance.
In future restringing twice a year is probably going to be best. The most convenient dates will probably be round about 1st Aug and 1st Jan.

At my very last lesson I said to my teacher that I had difficulty intonating B on the E string correctly. I don't remember her response.
Now that I have put on new strings, with a Dominant wound E instead of a Hill plain steel E, I can hear the G string ringing loud and clear when I play a B on the E string.
Nice!
