@ABitRusty, @Mouse, @ELCBK, @Mark, @Jim Dunleavy, and @SharonC - Thanks for the words of encouragement! I doubt I'll ever give up my viola, but am enjoying the violin.

Jim Dunleavy, I'm glad I was able to get a good enough shot of the violin so you could see that your name was worn off and am sad that it was so.

I'm learning The Ash Grove to attempt to put together a trio using the two viola parts that I recorded. Also played some Amazing Grace and Wayfaring Stranger, my go to pieces to just have fun!

The only problem thus far is the lack of shoulder rest. I just might add one.

@JohnG There wasn't a shoulder rest with it?

I think I added a shoulder rest to the case when I had it, but that was nearly nine years ago in 2013.

It looks like most of my signature is still there, though that's because I touched it up a few years ago when the fiddle came back through Massachusetts. I met up with @Ripton who was hosting her so I could do that.

@JohnG Nice videos! I really enjoyed your unboxing video. So glad to see The Traveler on her way again.

@KindaScratchy - Thank you, I had thought there was one from reading through this tome! Either it got lost, or Fiddlershop forgot to send it. No big deal from my standpoint. If I get another one, I'll probably order my favorite, Holstein Freedom Violin Chinrest. If they find the other one, there will be two of them for future recipients. Sounds like a win-win.

@JohnG I will let Fiddlerman know. It went to the last person, because I sent it. It was in a bag attached to the case handle because the case is too small to include it.

It was either forgotten by that person, understandable, or was disconnected when it was reboxed at Fiddlershop. I will mention it to @Fiddlerman. I am glad you mentioned it.

@JohnG - So happy to see the traveler back out and in action.

For your information, there were a ton of nicknacks from all the hosts of the fiddler but I am holding on to them because they weight too much. Will start a type of exhibition with all those momentums and keep them at Fiddlershop for all our visitors. By all means if the host of the traveler has new momentums to include in the boxes just throw them in. souvenirs from your area, stickers, anything that is representative of your area, however, this is absolutely not a requirement.

I'll be sending a link via a PM to tag your location for the travelers map. It's always nice if you write a description along with it.

@Fiddlerman - Thanks! I've added my first pin to the map, and added a comment.

Thanks John. I'm so happy to see the traveler back out and about.......

For everyone else, we need hosts. The only thing you need to pay for is the shipping to the next person. We're looking for active forum members to host the traveler. If you are unsure of your eligibility, just reach out.

So, Traveler was received with no shoulder rest and I thought I would need to buy one, but discovered that my Kun shoulder rest that I bought for my first viola could be modified to fit the violin by reversing one of the brackets that support the upright. The bracket on the right is the one reversed. Works like a charm!

JohnG, that was so pretty. Are you sure you don't have a violin there that you play on the side and never told us?

@JohnG -

VERY NICE!

The way you described it, I was prepared for screeching on the E string... gotta venture there sooner or later. 🤣

Really enjoyed listening to your Wild Mountain Thyme!

Thanks for sharing this!

@Mark - Thanks, I found it sounded better than I was afraid it would! lol

@Mouse - No side violin here, just The Traveler! I love that tune and am glad you liked it, too.

@ELCBK - I have played a little up on the E string, but not enough to share, yet. Glad you liked it.

@JohnG Sounds great! You seem to adapt to the fingerings well.  Really nice tune--I first came on it from this version by 10,000 Maniacs (2015):

And just to show that I'm not ignoring this chance to learn to play the violin on the world famous instrument, "The Traveler", here is my latest effort. The Gypsy Rover.
