Dennis, how many Canadians do we have who are waiting for the violin?

It's a great project, very nice idea, but I will skip this one. I'm trying to get back into playing everyday etc for now, settling back into routine.

Currently we have 2 Canadians after Fifi both in the Saskatoon (??) area :D   From there it looks like I'd be next on the list then perhaps Stone dog then down to AdverseD then over to the Florida crew and back up to Boston for Diane

Cool :-)
Sounds like we already have 8 or so players lined up then.

Sorry to hear that you won't be playing on it Brigitte. You wouldn't have to do a video of yourself playing on it or even take a picture of yourself with it if you don't want to though. It would be enough for you to put a fiddle on the map and maybe take a picture of the fiddle somewhere in your area.

just don't let your picture be you cooking a rack of ribs over the smoldering remains of what look very similar to a violin shaped coal bed in your fire pit. roflol

I think that no-one should feel pressured into making a video of themselves playing the fiddle. IMO, pictures and your stories are worth a lot too.

This is such an awesome idea, I've been kinda holding back due to my 'extremely new' journey on the violin but watching everyone go on about this has made me really intrigued.  I'll hopefully have a better webcam by the time it gets to the Detroit area, just keep in mind that yes it will be me making the screeching sounds not my cat in the background lol ;) .  Thanks for the great concept of this project Vince, Scotty and Fred thanks so much for your donations to this!!  Loved the video Fred and Steve both, can't wait to see the next ones as the traveler circles the globe.

This is exactly what I mean. I think many users will be holding back because they don't think they are good enough. That's not the idea. The idea behind the project is to have had the instrument travel throughout the hands of as many members as possible and as many places as possible. That is why I feel it is suffice to have pictures taken in memorable locations and to sign the instrument. Everything else is just a bonus. That is my opinion in any case.

Good Point Pierre.  I thought that the original Idea of having everyone do a video with the same instrument would be a good idea.  Then we could hear and see what it looks and sounds like in the hands of different players :)   However I see that that concept may have put people off a bit.

So we can rectify this by saying, Do what you feel Comfortable doing.  Whether that means making a vid, recording Audio only, or just taking pictures, hopefully in an interesting or Historical Place.  This Should drop the "Requirements" down to two things: 1. You need to sign the violin in some form of permanent marker (I know this makes many people cringe). 2. please supply a postcard or sticker for in or on the case.  DO NOT under ANY circumstances SIGN the CASE!!  Those were the very explicit instructions from the man who Donated the case to the cause :D

@kevin.  I AM the list.  Everyone who is interested in Participating Has been, and in some cases still needs to, PM their shipping info to me.

As it stands.  The fiddle is on it's way to BC Canada and will travel east from there to the Saskatoon and then back down into the states.  Probably to Detroit :)   From there over to Ohio, PA, AL, FL, MA....sorry if I'm forgetting anyone but I don't have the list in front of me at the moment.

Once Again: PLEASE Don't be worried or afraid of joining this project!  WE NEED YOU!!!

There's a Sharpie permanent marker fine point pen included in the Traveller case--no need to hunt for another marker.

Dennis, I haven't been here long but I'd like to participate if it's not too late. Since it's headed to Florida & Alabama, I'm just a little further in Louisiana. Let me know!

JC, this can't be true,,, I was the first to record myself playing the Traveller,,, at 8am, with an horrific hangover, with no warm-up, and no editting,,,,,,, there can't be ANYONE who should feel more embarrassed, but my mind set was, "this is CLEARLY not about me, it's totally about the voyage of the Traveller"; good, bad, or ugly, it's about the Traveller's experience, not how experienced we are (or are not).  Have fun with this!!!

I know you are half kidding Fred, but that doesn't really help - the first part I mean.... I know you think it does but you really have come a long way and there are PLENTY of members who don't play nearly as well which is fine.

But you are right about the attitude. It's about the instrument and it's future history.

Actually, wasn't kidding at all Pierre.  What are you saying,,, I'm a pretty girl who only thinks she's fat, [ok, now I'm kidding] lmfao!  There are also a crap-load of people here who play a hell of a lot better than me; I'm where I should be after 14 months.  That wasn't my point at all.  But I get your drift.

Heck, I know I'm not good enough. I've not even sent in any video's OR recordings of me playing yet. I am to a point where if I ever learn timing, I'll be all over it. It still wouldn't stop me from playing it AND recording my play. I wont be playing to anyone elses timing so it wont be so noticeable... i think that anyways. I know if I feel like that, many others do too. Its also a "scarey" notion giving someone ANY of your personal information about where you live to even be on the list. The internet isn't exactly a funhouse of admirable people looking out for your best interest.
