@Fiddlerman - yes indeed - "long after we have all put our bows down"  ( silent bows, if you know what I mean - well - it comes to us all )

@SethroTull86 - in the post above, after the dance band finishes, I give a long chat about how the fiddle is shared, what we can do with it as hosts, and so on.   Trust me, you will have a lot of fun when you finally receive her !

I am totally on board with a never ending journey. I can only imagine how much character she has.

Would be awesome for someone that knew the providence for this violin to tell The Traveler's story. Perhaps one of us should write a book about it one day?

Where's the list being kept? I might be interested in adding my name... maybe the summer months would be best, as I plan to try to go to a chamber music workshop every summer from now on.

@AndrewH I think if you PM @Fiddlerman he'll get you on the list 🙂

I was thinking of adding my name back to it to host it for a second time. 🙂

@Donald - community member and fiddle-brother - it would be useful if you could possibly give us some kind of update on the community fiddle, you know, "The Traveler" - like tell us exactly where she is on her "slow boat" to Brazil....   I assume you have the details...

Much Appreciated man, thank you !  thumbs-up

EDIT: Of course - I also meant to reference @augustoad - I assume you have not yet received her...   Because I KNOW you would let US know...   Equally - if you (Augusto) have any news - which I assume you don't - please do let us know...

This just feels "bad"....  A whole year has passed by, and more, and all we managed were 5 players (well, not counting Donald who didn't actually play her) - all the 4 UK hosts held her for the agreed 4 or so weeks...

Let's get this sorted....

I seriously recommend not copying my mistakes. D'oh - guntohead.JPG

Please make your own, different mistakes, and help us all learn :-)

Also, while I'm here, I'd like to point out that there are only six people remaining on the list, after Augusto. Two of those are new signups within the last few months. The other four were on the original list and chose to pass their turn for various reasons. They asked that I come back around to them later. All of them are here in the U.S. (one is in Hawaii).

So while I'm upset that it could take another two months to reach Augusto, at least we don't have people who have been waiting and waiting and waiting to have their turn. That does make me feel a little better. *sigh

You can add me to the list please, let me know what you need from me.

Thanks,

Barry

@SethroTull86 - It's my plan that the journey never ends also but your idea of a great charity isn't bad. 🙂
Hopefully she'll be traveling long after we are all gone.....
Imagine what a story this will make hundreds of years from now.

LOL, just had a thought, maybe when I die I can slip some of my ashes in the case and finally get a vacation

ROFL - I don't even want to think about what goes through your mind Barry.....

Glad you are back on the list. Hope the traveler shows up soon.

Does anyone have information about what ship the traveler is on?

I tried looking but couldn't find anything that gave ship information. I think @BillyG tried looking once, so maybe he had some luck finding the ship info?

@fiddle chick Can you add me back to the list? I'd like to host her again 🙂

Hey guys,

I'm sorry I don't have the time to take part in the forums as much as I want to. I've just recently paid the tax for receiving the violin (120 USD, ouch! but totally worth it) and it's on it's way to be delivered to my doorstep. As soon as it arrives, I'll make sure to post here again. Also, I'll be recording (hopefully) a few videos of me playing with it. I'll try to take it to a cool location, even though I don't live in "postcard Brazil" as I like saying - I pretty much live in a concrete jungle, but there are some interesting nearby places that I can make some videos on.

Again, as soon as it arrives I'll be posting here! Is there anything else I should know or do with the violin?

Skype: augustoad Email: augustoaguieiras@hotmail.com Phone number/whatsapp: +55 42 9861-4084. I'd be happy to talk anything fiddle-related to anyone! :)

Yay! That's very promising news, @augustoad ! We've been so worried about the Traveler on her slow boat journey from Australia to Brazil.

Can't wait to hear that she's arrived safely and in your hands!

Woooooohoooooo!!!! I’m so very happy to read your post, Augusto! I’ve been so upset and worried about whether it would actually ever arrive in Brazil after all these months. I hope you enjoy hosting it and get lots of good pics and videos. I’m sorry you had to pay such a high tax to receive it, but remember we talked about that ahead of time and you said it wouldn’t be a problem. I hope that’s still the case. If you need help with the expenses, please send me a PM. I’ll be in touch in a few weeks with instructions on where to ship it to next. Enjoy!!!

Let the bow flow.

Is there anything we can do for you to get a refund on that tax? Did you keep the receipt so that you can get it back when you ship it out of Brazil? It's not right that you should get stuck with that especially considering the situation. We can compose a letter of explanation if that would help.

Worse case scenario, I think we can take up a donation for the cost. I just feel that it is so wrong in so many ways.

Glad to hear that it is not lost. Looking forward to the update and future posts!!!

Glad to hear it's on its way to you after all that time at sea. Hope that it is in good shape when you get it 😀
